Who We Are

BearWise.org is an informational website of practical solutions that help people, neighborhoods and communities prevent problems with black bears. BearWise was developed by state bear managers from the Southeastern states and is supported by SEAFWA, the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.

We are committed to keeping any and all personal information collected from our online visitors confidential, secure, and private. We will never sell or rent your information or email address to third parties. We may use your email address for communicating with you about our website, including e-newsletters and special notices. Under no circumstances will we or our email partner share your information with any third-party.

We take every reasonable effort to ensure security, however, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of such firewalls and other server security measures.

Automatic Data Collection

When a visitor requests a page from a website, data about the request is automatically stored in a log file. This data includes the Internet address of the computer making the request, the time and date of the request, the type of Web browser being used, and sometimes, the page from which the visitor is coming. The information does not contain the visitor’s name or e-mail address. BearWise analyzes these log files to learn how visitors are using our website, in order to optimize and improve the content of our site.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information that a Web server asks your browser to store on the hard drive of your computer. Your browser later presents the information back to the Web server. In its simplest form, a cookie is just an identifying number. A number of functions on the website may use cookies to enable certain features.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

This site may be linked to sites that are not operated by BearWise. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these third-party sites.
